It has been almost 20 years since fans of the Star Wars universe last saw Natalie Portman as Padme Amidala on the big screen. It was in ‘Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith’, released in 2005. Now, some reports suggest that the actress could be in negotiations to return to her mythical character, this time in the series ‘Ahsoka’.
Disney+ has been exploiting everything related to Star Wars for years, either through movies or series that serve to explore other lesser-known stories in the universe, as well as to recover other historical ones, such as the recent ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’, which allowed the return of Ewan McGregor to the franchise.
Advanced negotiations to see Padme Amidala again
After the Jedi Master, it could now be Padme Amidala who reappears after two decades. Kristian Harloff, via his YouTube channel, has revealed that, as of today, conversations between Natalie Portman and those responsible for ‘Ahsoka’ are active and the intention is for the actress to be part of the cast of the second season.
While these negotiations are taking place and a hypothetical official confirmation is being made, fans of the Disney+ series are eagerly awaiting the new episodes following what happened in the episodes that saw the light of day in 2023. At the moment, there is no scheduled release date, so it would be expected that the new installments will not see the light until next year.
Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have already made it clear in the past that ‘Ahsoka’ and its second season would be the next project in which both managers were going to embark. However, for now, the entire cast seems not to be ready. Natalie Portman could be one of the next to recover one of her most iconic roles almost 20 years after doing it for the last time.
