Dusty Hannahs, who played two seasons for the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA and who is now playing in Israel, made his Ligat HaAl debut on Friday, October 6, but by Saturday realized he was living in a warzone.
The long-running feud between Israel and Palestine has escalated again in recent days and Hannahs, now living in the nation as part of the next step of his career, woke up to air raid sirens as an attack from Hamas – considered a terrorist group by the European Union, USA and UK – began.

Reporting back to the US, Dusty Hannahs, who has played all around the world, explained how scary the past few days have been.
“It’s pretty insane, you can still feel the shaking of the impact in the sky, especially if it gets low,” Hannahs, who plays for Ironi Ness Ziona, said to Sirius XM Radio.
“I could kind of feel my room shake, so I ran to the bomb shelter on my floor.
“As a kid from Arkansas, it was all pretty foreign to me. The room was shaking and it kind of just went on all day.”

Fighting continues in Palestine and Israel
On Tuesday, explosions were heard in the city of Ashkelon after Hamas warned residents to abandon the location by 17:00 local time.
Neighborhoods have been destroyed and lives have been devastated, with over 1,750 dead on both sides, according to the BBC.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Defense Force is attempting to press on in Gaza, with the Strip being shelled constantly.
Hamas are refusing to negotiate on hostages until they have got what they want, leaving Western visitors and Israeli citizens afraid and easy targets.
