The legal plot surrounding Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs added a new episode related to the accusations against the rapper on federal charges of racketeering, sex trafficking and human trafficking, after his lawyers filed a lawsuit against those who claim to have videos of his “Crazy Parties” on Wednesday
Sean Combs‘ legal team has filed a defamation lawsuit against a man who claimed to possess videos implicating the music mogul in sexual assaults on eight celebrities.
The lawsuit was filed in a federal court in New York City, and names Courtney Burgess and her attorney, Ariel Mitchell, for inventing “scandalous lies” to take advantage of the media attention surrounding the accusations against Diddy for sex trafficking.
In addition, Nexstar Media was also sued by Diddy, because his lawyers consider that the cable news network, NewsNation, spread Burgess’ accusations without investigating whether they were true, and that according to the lawsuit, the videos do not exist.
“These defendants have deliberately invented and disseminated outrageous lies with reckless disregard for the truth,” Combs‘ attorney Erica Wolff said, adding that “their falsehoods have poisoned public perception and tainted the jury pool. This complaint should serve as a warning that such intentional falsehoods, which undermine Mr. Combs’ right to a fair trial, will no longer be tolerated.”
Diddy case details
Diddy Combs is in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, awaiting trial on federal racketeering, sex trafficking and human trafficking charges, which is scheduled for May 5, 2025.
The hip-hop mogul pleaded not guilty to the sex trafficking charges against him after his arrest in September and remains in custody because judges denied him bail.
According to the AP agency, this conflict against Burgess originated after he began giving interviews following Diddy’s arrest in September 2024, in which he claimed to have received USB sticks with incriminating evidence from the late actress and model Kim Porter, Combs’ longtime partner and mother of four of his children.
Burgess never made the videos public and there is a report in The New York Times of a story published in November, in which people close to Porter said they had never heard of Burgess and doubted his claims. Burgess himself has acknowledged that he does not know Diddy Combs in person.
