Historic Mexican National Team goalkeeper, Guillermo Ochoa, could be left out of the final players list that coach Jaime Lozano will give for the next Copa América held in the United States.
According to reports, “Memo” would be out in order for him to concentrate in new negotiations between him and his future team, while giving the opportunity to other goalkeepers to battle for a spot in the team and try to earn the starting role in that position.
The idea of Ochoa not being with the Mexican National Team for the tournament, came after conversation between him and the coaching staff. Sources also say that this will also serve to remove media pressure from the team.
Ochoa’s absence would also make way for Luis Ángel Malagón in goal, since the young goalkeeper is doing things well with América and will also help evaluate other players like Julio Gonzalez from Pumas.
Is it believed “El Tri” wants to give other young players a chance to compete for the upcoming World Cup to be played in 2026 in the United States, Mexico, and Canda.
Along with Ochoa, two other elements under a lot of pressure are also expected to not be listed for Copa America, as Jesús Gallardo and Hirving Lozano will take a break from the national team.

Guillermo Ochoa currently plays in recently relegated Salernitana of the Serie A of Italy, which means that the Mexican goalkeeper will look for a new team.
Recent reports have linked him to the newest MLS expansion team San Diego FC, but no official announcement yet. If “Memo” were to play in the United States soccer league, this would mean he would do so until 2025, giving him a long rest from this summer until next spring to get back to a playing field. Hirving Lozano has also been linked to SDFC.
