Although they have been on the market for some time and in many different industries, the evolution of artificial intelligences is becoming a topic of much discussion in recent times.
So much so that more and more voices are speaking out on the subject.
One of the most recent has been that of Steven Spielberg, the renowned movie director, who is well known for his many films.
Be that as it may, this time he has come into the limelight for his recent statements (as reported by Gizmodo in an interview with Stephen Colbert) on the aforementioned AIs.
What’s more, the detail has been, to say the least, quite curious, as the director has been indirectly related to these through cinema in films such as ‘A.I. Artificial Intelligence’ and ‘Minority Report’.
Steven Spielberg on AI
In terms of his statements, the director has left several very interesting comments on how scared he is at the potential of an AI rise.
“Broadly speaking, you take something that you created, which is a computer, and you give autonomy to it based on your own point of view and about yourself as a human person,” Spielberg declared.
“However, the human soul is unimaginable and ineffable. It cannot be created by any algorithm.
“This is something that exists only in us. If we were to lose that because books, films, music tracks are being created by the machines we have made…. Are we going to let all this happen? It terrifies me.”
Thus, the director is somewhat ‘scared’ by the possibility that an AI could take away the “creative soul” from the creations that human beings have been making since the beginning of time, whatever art it may be.
All this comes after tools emerged in recent months which showcased the fact that AIs can create their own animations, draw pictures and create music tracks.
