Coco Gauff is embracing the offseason in style after a whirlwind tennis season, spending her downtime at Tyler the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in Los Angeles. The 20-year-old tennis star didn’t just turn heads for her presence at the music festival but also for her stunning new hairstyle and infectious energy.
It’s a well-earned break for Gauff, who capped off a challenging year with remarkable triumphs. The second half of Gauff’s tennis season came with hurdles, including disappointing finishes in Cincinnati and the US Open, where she had entered as a defending champion.
Gauff closed her season with major victories, including a title win at the China Open and a historic performance at the WTA Finals in Riyadh.
There, she became the youngest champion in over a decade, rallying back from a set down to defeat China’s Qinwen Zheng. The victory added a record-breaking $4.8 million in prize money to her name, cementing her place in tennis history.
Stole the spotlight in recent event
Now off the court, Gauff is enjoying the fruits of her labor, attending the much-anticipated 10th anniversary of Camp Flog Gnaw.
For the occasion, Gauff sported a fresh, chic hairstyle and a bold orange pullover, documenting her experience alongside Jalen.
Tyler the Creator’s event featured a star-studded lineup, including Playboi Carti and Sexyy Red, but Gauff was in for a special treat: a personal shoutout in one of Tyler’s newest tracks.
In the song “Thought I Was Dead,” from his album CHROMAKOPIA, the rapper quips, “You ain’t Coco Gauff, you can’t serve me.”
The lyric, which Gauff’s boyfriend, Jalen Sera, had teased before the album’s release, left the tennis star elated. Taking to Instagram, she wrote, “Waking up to my name being mentioned in a Tyler song… Absolutely insane. Thank you!”
Gauff later shared festival highlights on her Instagram story, including clips of the crowd and the moment Tyler performed her shoutout live.
