Rachel McAdams did not appear a reunion of her ‘Mean Girls’ co-stars in a commercial for Walmart as she simply didn’t want to participate, with there being no bad blood between her and her fellow cast members.
Her ‘Mean Girls’ co-stars, Amanda Seyfried, Lindsay Lohan and Lacey Chabert missed her presence in the Black Friday commercial for the hypermarket grocery store giant, they haven’t fallen out.
“Rachel McAdams didn’t want to do it,” an insider told Page Six. “They were all offered it, but the three of them loved being together for their reunion.”
The source added: “They had a great time talking about being moms, and it was definitely a loss not having Rachel there.”
In the commercial, they wore some old outfits and recalled some old scenes from the hit movie which debuted in 2004.
“Some things never change. On Wednesdays we wear pink, but now we shop Walmart Black Friday deals,” Lohan says, paraphrasing one of the show’s iconic lines for the commercial.
Lohan recently had a son with Bader Shammas in July 2023, whilst Seyfried has two of her own with Thomas Sadoski. Chabert is also mother to a seven-year-old with David Nehdar.
McAdams hides from unwanted eyes
McAdams doesn’t always enjoy being in the spotlight as she has previously taken a two-year break from acting and has also revealed that she’s passed over chances to appear in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’, ‘Casino Royale’, ‘Mission Impossible III’, ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Get Smart’.
Those films would go on to gross a combined box office total of $2.158bn, highlighting how she wasn’t interested in the money.
“You don’t go to theater school to learn about how to deal with [fame]. There’s no book on how to navigate that,” she explained at the time.
“There were definitely some anxious moments of wondering if I was just throwing it all away, and why was I doing that? It’s taken years to understand what I intuitively was doing.”
