Director Todd Phillips shared a small glimpse into “Joker: Folie à Deux” on Saturday, showing Joaquin Phoenix at Arkham Asylum. The first look at Joker 2 also served to announce the beginning of shooting for the sequel to the 2019 film.
Phillips took to Instagram to release an image of the main character, Arthur Fleck (Joker), getting shaved at the asylum.
“Day 1. Our boy,” Phillips wrote.
Filming of the sequel will take place in Los Angeles and New York, which will give life to Gotham City in the 1970s.
Lady Gaga will take on the role of Harley Quinn, a character that Margot Robbie has made popular after portraying her three times.
After shining on “The House of Gucci” and “A Star is Born,” Gaga will jump into the superhero genre.

Joker 2 will feature some new actors
Phillips previously confirmed that Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener and Harry Lawte will play characters still unknown.
Phoenix’s Oscar-winning role as the Joker gave life to a version of the villain closest to Alan Moore‘s “The Killing Joke,” but with a twist exclusive to the film.
The Oscar winner lost an extreme amount of weight to play the role and entered a complicated state of mind to express his neurodivergence.
“I’ve been a scoundrel in my life,” Phoenix said when accepting the award. “I’ve been selfish. I’ve been sometimes cruel at times, and hard to work with, and I’m grateful that many of you in this room have given me a second chance.
“And I believe that it is when we are at our best, when we support each other, not when we cancel each other out for past mistakes, but when we help each other grow, when we educate each other when we guide each other’s redemption.”
