Marco Alonso Verde Alvarez has made Mexico proud by securing a silver medal in the welterweight boxing category at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Despite a challenging bout in the final against Uzbekistan’s Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev, Verde’s path to the podium has been celebrated widely, including by Mexico’s boxing legend, Canelo Alvarez.
