According to information from the annual study by a data analytics company called dunnhumby, consumer preference in supermarkets across the United States leans towards a chain that does not have the name or resources of giants such as Costco or Walmart, and which in 2024 surpassed them by far.
The study in question determines the position in a ranking of 72 chains that 11,000 consumers give it with their preference in a survey, which for the eighth year measures the ‘temperature’ of this sector according to its customers

In the ranking, the chains that completed the Top 5 are Market Basket, Costco, WinCo foods and Aldi, leaving the giant Walmart out of the Top 10, in 11th place. Sixth place went to Amazon, seventh to Trader Joe’s, Sam’s Club fell to number eight, and Wegman and Shop Rite took ninth and 10th place respectively. Kroger and Albertson’s lost consumer preference, as did Walmart.
