Since 2018, when he arrived from Minnesota, Pressly became a reliable closer, but in recent years Pressly was displaced from his position as a closer to a setup pitcher.
However, Pressly made several blunders in the divisional series against Detroit, which angered the fans, who turned their backs on him. Now the Astros are looking to move him to another team to free up $14 million in annual salary.
Cubs fans don’t want Pressly on the team
Pressly’s possible destination could be the Chicago Cubs, who are looking for experienced players to bolster the bullpen, although the closer has put a series of demands on the table to get to Chicago, as his family had a quieter life in Houston, the same conditions he is looking for in Chicago.
Faced with these demands from the closer, fans have taken to X and made it clear that they do not approve of Pressly joining the Cubs, claiming that Pressly is not up to Mariano Rivera’s standards to make demands.
In previous weeks, Pressly blocked a possible trade with the Detroit Tigers, as the closer is looking to stay in the Texas area, according to a report from Essentially Sports.
