Lily-Rose Depp, the rising actress and model, has shared a deeply personal reflection on her childhood experience with her father Johnny Depp‘s films. In a candid interview featured in the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK, Lily-Rose admitted that watching her father’s performances, particularly in “Edward Scissorhands”, left a lasting emotional impact on her as a young child.
Depp has starred in countless iconic films, including the 1990 Tim Burton classic where he played the misunderstood, scissor-handed character.
Lily-Rose recalled being deeply affected by the movie-not because she found her father’s character scary, but because of the cruelty her character faced.
“Movies are supposed to make you feel something. I was traumatized by it [Scissorhands],” she said. “Not because I thought he was scary, but because everyone was being so mean to him and I got really upset.”
The empathy she felt for her father’s character in the film helped shape her own perspective on acting and storytelling.
Despite growing up immersed in the world of film, Lily-Rose described her style of acting as quite different from her father’s.
“We’re very different actors, but of course, you’re the product of your environment, and it’s a world I’ve always been very interested in,” she reflected. Lily-Rose has certainly followed her own path in Hollywood, achieving recognition in her own right.
Latest role in Nosferatu
Lily-Rose Depp is now stepping into her own spotlight with a starring role in “Nosferatu”, a haunting remake of the 1922 silent classic. This new adaptation, loosely based on Bram Stoker’s Dracula, has been receiving early acclaim, with many excited about her portrayal of Ellen Hutter, the object of Count Orlok’s sinister obsession.
The film features an impressive cast, including Bill Skarsgard, who takes on the role of the bloodthirsty Count Orlok. Alongside Lily-Rose, the film also stars Nicholas Hoult as Ellen’s husband Thomas Hutter, Willem Dafoe as the vampire hunter Professor Albin Eberhart Von Franz, and Emma Corrin as Anna Harding, the wife of Thomas’s friend, Friedrich, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
