Natalie Portman participated in Vanity Fair magazine as one of those chosen for its annual Hollywood cover and, granting a few words to the publication, spoke briefly about the delicate family situation she goes through the separation from her husband Benjamin Millepied and after learning of an affair he had with a young actress. However, she assured that she does not want to contribute to the speculation about the current state of her marriage.
Portman is one of the 11 guest stars, so she gave a short interview that she used to silence all these rumors.
The relationship between Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied
The actress married Millepied in 2012 after they were on the set of the film ‘Black Swan’ and they have two children together: Aleph, 12, and Amalia, six. However, a few months ago there was a rumor of an alleged infidelity with a 25-year-old girl. It was reported that the couple is separated, although they are trying to rebuild their marriage. However, Natalie Portman has not given any statement on the matter.
“It’s terrible and I have no desire to contribute to it. Early on I became very protective. I chose a different name when I started, which was an interesting way of separating identities. I would get angry if someone called me Natalie Portman at school. I thought, ‘If you know me, you know me as Natalie Hershlag in school. It was kind of an extreme bifurcation of identity that I’ve tried to integrate a little bit more as an adult,” she explained.
Portman, 42, explained that the split occurred last year, although she had not publicly addressed the status of their relationship until now.
“Somehow, the intersection of all of that is part of me, and it’s important to have all of that inside of me and as me, rather than being something external, that’s the real thing. Having kids and a family, I started to realize that maybe it wasn’t useful to be like that, there were two of us. I have a lot of interactions a day as a public person. To exclude that from my experience is not real.”
Thus, the actress has tried not to dwell on the situation of her family life and that she maintains her two personalities (public and private) because she has always sought to maintain this separation.
About her public life, Natalie talked about her life in Paris and her upcoming film projects. She is focused on significant film projects, including a new animated project based on Roald Dahl’s The Twits, which Portman said she is interested in for her children to enjoy. She also said she wants to dabble in music and musical theater, something she has loved since she was a child.
