The Dallas Cowboys season will come to an end on Sunday against the Washington Commanders, where they will no longer have the services of veteran running back Ezekiel Elliott, after owner Jerry Jones agreed to his request to be released to find a team competing in the playoffs.
The release is just the first step in Zeke Elliott‘s plans, meanwhile, agent Rocky Arceneaux made a public statement to express the running back’s gratitude.
“I want to thank Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys for affording Zeke this opportunity to experience free agency. Although it is not imminent, Zeke is excited about the possibilities and is grateful. He still has a lot of football left to play and will always be a Dallas Cowboy for life,” Arceneaux said.
Ezekiel Elliott’s options are the Lions and Chargers
Ezekiel Elliott’s next step is to be placed on waivers, and if he is not claimed, he will go into free agency to see if his experience can be taken into account by a playoff team in need of an experienced running back.
On the Athlon Sports website, a forecast was made about the potential destinations of Ezekiel Elliott with teams that could require his services and there are rumors of a couple of options, one of them would be an unexpected prize despite his bad season, and they are the Detroit Lions, after running back David Montgomery suffered a medial collateral ligament sprain.
The other possible landing spot is the Los Angeles Chargers, with a playoff spot, although in a more difficult position, having to deal with the powerful Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens, although for now, they need to resolve the injury to Gus Edwards and Elliott could provide depth to their ground attack.
