on grounds of meaning Australian Open tickets: Your many ways to watch the tennis

Whether you’re a tennis nerd, a casual fan, an early bird, a night owl, on a budget or simply someone who loves a big event on the calendar, there’s an AO 2025 ticket for you." /><meta name="msapplication-TileColor" content="#0092d3

There have never been more ways to enjoy the world-class tennis action at Melbourne Park.

The versatility of Australian Open 2025 tickets means that, whether you’re a tennis nerd, a casual fan, an early bird, a night owl, on a budget or simply someone who loves a big event on the calendar, there’s something for you.

TICKETS: Australian Open 2025

Across the three weeks of 6-26 January, you can experience:

  • The excitement of AO Opening Week presented by Herald Sun, events building up to the main draw
  • Dedicated main-draw night sessions at John Cain Arena
  • All the action that unfolds all over the precinct on a Ground Pass
  • A phenomenal music line-up in the final days as part of AO Live

Here are six options to consider when buying your tickets to the year’s first Grand Slam event.

Early-bird ground passes

From now until the end of November, AO ground pass tickets are set at early-bird pricing.

That means you can grab your week-one ground passes for just $49 – unchanged from 2024 pricing, and still one of the best-value sporting tickets in town – and $69 for the middle weekend.

AO 2025: Unforgettable tennis, epic entertainment and new rivalries

Kids attend for even cheaper, with early-bird ground passes set at $10 for week one and dropping to just $5 in week two.

Adults can enjoy a week two ground pass for just $19, representing excellent value for money.

But get in quick – from 1 December adult ground passes rise to $59 for week one, $85 for the middle Friday and Saturday, and $35 for week two, while kids ground passes change to $20 for the middle Friday and Saturday, and $15 for weeks one and two.

John Cain Arena night sessions

If you want to watch blockbuster tennis under lights, you’re not restricted to buying tickets for Rod Laver Arena (RLA).

For the first time ever, John Cain Arena (JCA) offers both day and night sessions from 12-17 January, meaning you can catch even more tennis action on the People’s Court.

Tennis under lights at JCA has led to many of the Australian Open’s most iconic moments, especially for the host nation.

It’s where Daria Saville – then Gavrilova – exploded onto the scene in 2016 with her 11-9 third-set win over Kristina Mladenovic to reach the fourth round, and where Nick Kyrgios famously saved a match point to stop Karen Khachanov in five sets at AO 2020.

During a recent interview on The Sit-Down podcast, Kyrgios described the JCA atmosphere in that third-round win over Khachanov as among the most memorable of his career.

MCA night sessions

There are even more night sessions to enjoy at Margaret Court Arena (MCA), which like Rod Laver Arena offers fans two matches under lights as part of their ticket.

It’s a more affordable way to attend the tournament – MCA night session tickets can be snapped up for as little as half the price as equivalent night session tickets at Rod Laver.

MCA offers a boutique Australian Open experience, with its 7,500-seat capacity – half that of RLA – ensuring an intimate atmosphere with the world’s best players up close.

Night sessions at MCA are scheduled for 12-18 January 2025.

Upgrade your ticket

Subject to availability, it is possible to upgrade your ground pass to a stadium ticket at RLA, MCA or JCA.

And it can be secured on site, even if you haven’t pre-purchased your ticket to the main arenas.

Simply head to the Ticketmaster box office on the RLA Terrace concourse and ask if you can upgrade your ground pass to a ticketed seat – you might be lucky to find that a session is not completely sold out.

Attend Opening Week

One of the Australian Open’s best-kept secrets is the world-class tennis action that unfolds before the main draw begins.

At just $10 for adults and $5 for kids – thanks early-bird* pricing! – you can snap up a ticket for AO Opening week presented by Herald Sun, which kicks off on Monday 6 January 2025.

This is when Melbourne Park comes alive with the AO qualifying competition – hard-fought 128-player events where players battle for a place in the main draw – as well as star-studded exhibition matches, open practice sessions and Kids Tennis Day.

*From 1 December, AO Opening week presented by Herald Sun ground passes change to $15 for adults and $10 for kids.

AO Live = Ground Pass

Did you know that Tickets for AO LIVE Presents, which start from $89, also includes Ground Pass access for the whole day?

Sure, you might be at AO 2025 primarily to see Benson Boone, Kaytranada, Kesha or Armand Van Helden light up John Cain Arena from 23-25 January.

But if you’re curious to see some tennis while you’re there, there’s also wheelchair tennis, junior championships and legends events to enjoy on those same days at Melbourne Park.

Live music + world-class tennis on one ticket? It’s great value for fans.
