Mario Balotelli could be one of the potential blockbuster signings for the Liga MX Apertura 2023.
Known as a prolific striker, albeit with a controversial reputation, the Italian player could make his way to Mexican football.
Club America has emerged as a possible destination for Balotelli, as the team are in search of a new striker following Federico Vinas’ departure.
They want to find a man to complement Henry Martin in a potential 4-4-2 formation.
Balotelli wants to play in Mexico
Balotelli, who recently left his former club Sion after their relegation to Switzerland’s second division, has expressed interest in joining a Mexican side.
According to Televisa’s Alfonso Cabral, the former Italian international has been linked to Club America, who are currently in search of a star player to bolster an attacking line-up that already includes Martin and Jonathan ‘Cabecita’ Rodriguez.
This has led the club’s management, headed by Santiago Banos, to consider the Balotelli option.
However, America are also interested in signing Gabriel Barbosa, more commonly known as ‘Gabigol‘.
Balotelli‘s potential move could depend on the outcome of America‘s pursuit of the Flamengo star, who is considered the best forward in South America.
It is worth noting that Balotelli has previously rejected the idea of playing in MLS, as he does not consider the level of competition to be high enough, despite the arrival of notable stars each year.
