A new blow for a well-known brand in the world of groceries. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an immediate recall order for a batch of Lay’s potato products, as it contains an ingredient that can be quite harmful to all those who consume it
So far, this package had only been sold “to certain retail stores and e-commerce distributors” in the states of Oregon and Washington. All this fuss has been caused because the bags in this batch contained milk among its ingredients and it was not specified, so it could be a serious health problem for allergy sufferers
Lay’s assures that “no allergic reactions related to this material have been reported”
The potato chip brand has issued a statement warning consumers, once it has been verified that none have suffered collateral damage from the consumption of this batch. “To date, no allergic reactions related to this material have been reported. No other Lay’s products, flavors, sizes or assorted packages are being recalled,” the statement said.
Similarly, they have warned all lactose allergy sufferers not to ingest this product under any circumstances, as although it is not specified, they are contaminated with milk. “If consumers have an allergy or sensitivity to milk, they should not consume the product and should discard it immediately. Frito-Lay has informed the FDA of this measure.”
It is important to note that being lactose intolerant is not the same as being allergic to milk. If a person allergic to milk consumes a lot of milk, they may have a severe allergic reaction, which in some cases can be life-threatening and cause death. For this reason, this batch of products has been immediately withdrawn.
