Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez faced each other four times in the ring, all four battles went down in the boxing history books, but there was one that didn’t go down on either man’s record and it was held in a music contest on Mexican television.
Among the many things Pacquiao has done is sing, the Filipino star has been allowed to do everything.
Marquez and Pacquiao appeared on the TV show La Academia in Mexico to promote their third fight, which the Filipino would eventually win.
“Pac Man” stood on stage and performed the song “Imagine” by John Lennon, while “El Dinamita” sang “El Rey” by José Alfredo Jiménez. Both boxers were applauded by the audience for their outstanding effort.
The rivalry between Pacquiao and Márquez
Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Márquez faced each other on four occasions: the first on May 8, 2004, on that occasion the Mexican fell to the canvas three times, the judges gave a majority draw.
The second time was on March 15, 2008, Marquez visited the floor again, he had a great performance, but the judges’ scorecards were again for the “Pac Man” by split decision.
On November 12 they met for the third time, “El Dinamita” was far superior to Pacquiao, but the judges did not see the same as the majority of the public and gave him the victory by majority decision.
The fourth fight came on December 8, 2012. Now to leave no doubt, Marquez delivered a spectacular knockout in the sixth round to Pacquiao, the Filipino was left unconscious on the canvas and at times feared the worst, but fortunately it did not happen to the worst.
