San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) is the most important comic book convention in the world.
What began as a gathering of comic book collectors several decades ago is now the epitome of entertainment and the hallowed venue for presentations of new television and film projects, especially the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) which has had a captive audience since it began with the Iron Man movie in 2008.
What films will be announced at SDCC?
According to attendees, last year was a bit of a strange year for the convention as there was still the Hollywood union strike and all plans that had been set in motion had to put the brakes on in the face of uncertainty. Some panelists who did show up had to avoid talking about projects on strike.
However, this year has Marvel fans very excited about Phase 5 of the MCU covering the new movies coming out. One thing that has fans very excited is the first-ever keynote at the legendary Hall H where all the details, surprises and exclusive appearances from Thursday’s special roundtable on Deadpool and Wolverine will be discussed.
There will be new characters and stories in many projects, starting with Spider Man 4 and Blade in New York to space with Captain America: Brave New World and Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 4 to the multiverse with the next film of Dr. Strange: Dimension of Darkness, passing through the Viking territories of Thor: The Legend of Hercules.
One crossover that has comic book fans very excited is the new movie announced by Kevin Feige, the head of the MCU, is X-Men vs Avengers, a saga that is directly taken from the comics from 2012. All of this can be seen on each franchise’s particular YouTube channel, as well as media outlets such as IGN, Gizmodo, Games Radar, comicbook.com who will be streaming live from the convention.
