Actor Billy Miller who starred in several successful and award-winning series such as Suits, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless passed away on Friday as reported by different media outlets following a statement by his management team.
The confirmation came through Variety, which published a statement from Miller’s team. Billy was 43 years old when he passed away last Friday in a hospital in Austin, Texas, and was close to celebrating his 44th birthday this Sunday, September 17.
“The actor was battling manic depression at the time of his death,” the statement said, the cause of death, however, has not been fully clarified, according to international news portals.
Billy Miller participated in soap operas in the beginning of his career
Billy Miller was born on September 17, 1979, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but grew up in Grand Prairie, Texas, to later study communications at the University of Texas. He then moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
Growing up, he had a difficult time as he battled with a rare health condition called tarsal coalition, which affected the cartilage in his ankles.
Billy Miller’s breakout role
His first role came as Richie Novak in the All My Children TV drama that first aired in 1970 and lasted on the air until 2011.
Following his success on All My Children, Billy Miller also was cast for The Young and the Restless to play Billy Abbott, a role that helped him in his career while also leading him to five nominations at the Emmy Awards, where he won three times. He was later nominated for is role on General Hospital.
After that, he was also part of Suits where he played a circumstantial character named Marcus.
