Celebrities like Hugh Jackman, Will Ferrell, David Beckham, Emma Corrin, and John Cleese have graced the Wrexham FC box. However, executive director Humphrey Ker has another celebrity in his sights: Taylor Swift.
“I missed our last preseason game to go see Taylor Swift in concert. Everyone beat me up for that, but my wife had booked the tickets well in advance, and it was a pleasant surprise and something wonderful,” Ker shared with a sports website.
Taylor and the NFL
In recent weeks, Swift has made headlines in the sports press due to her appearances at Kansas City Chiefs games in the NFL. The Grammy winner’s apparent relationship with tight end Travis Kelce has been the talk of the town.
Considering Swift’s newfound interest in football, Ker believes she owes him a visit to the Racecourse Ground, the home of the Red Dragons. “In a way, she owes us a trip to the Racecourse because I missed work to come and see her.”
Was Taylor already at Racecourse?
Recalling an incident from the last home game of the 2022-2023 season, Ker mentioned a fan approaching his car in the parking lot to inform him that Taylor Swift was nearby. “I heard Taylor Swift is at The Turf (the local pub). Is that true?” the fan inquired.
At that moment, Ker was incredulous, thinking that if it were true, he would already know. “I walked ten more yards, and I was like, ‘Is Taylor Swift at The Turf? I don’t know. Can I justifiably go check?'”
In the end, Swift was not there, but Ker found a more than worthy substitute in actor Paul Rudd. “Antman, it’s always good to have an Avenger in our club if you can get one,” said the director.
The likelihood of seeing the Fearless singer in one of the Racecourse boxes seems to increase, especially after actor Ryan Reynolds accompanied her this Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium.
Reynolds and his partner, actor Rob McElhenney, acquired Wrexham in 2020 through their RR McReynolds Company.
In their next match, the Red Dragons will face Mansfield Town at the Field Mill.
