Friday night’s WWE SmackDown ended with an intense staredown between Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Roman Reigns. Now fans are convinced that will be a match at WrestleMania 40, especially considering what Cody Rhodes said.
Rhodes, 38, told Reigns, also 38, while inside the ring that he wants the championship belt, but not at WrestleMania. The Rock then walked out to a roaring crowd and joined both men.
Reigns looked shocked when Rhodes told him that he took advice from The Rock, who shook the latter’s hand and whispered something in his ear.
Rhodes left the ring as The Rock approached Reigns without saying a single word. The crowd, meanwhile, chanted “this is awesome” as SmackDown drew to a close.
The Rock and Roman Reigns related?
Johnson. 51, and Reigns are cousins in real life and part of a wrestling bloodline that is now royalty in the company.
Rhodes seemingly giving The Rock his WrestleMania title belt match against Reigns sets up a long-awaited battle between the two relatives.
WrestleMania 40 will surely be a family affair because Johnson’s involvement comes on the heels of him replacing Vince McMahon on the Board of Directors for WWE‘s parent company, TKO Group.
