Miley Cyrus participated in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ in the role of Mainframe, but the star did not reprise her role in the third instalment of the successful Marvel movies.
Instead, it was Tara Strong who voiced the character for that third movie.
Some fans, though, were upset not to hear the pop star again and want answers.
“Was Miley Cyrus not able to reprise her role from Guardians 2? Was that the same character?” a Twitter user asked Gunn.
But, the reason is quite simple and it’s that she was too busy.
Cyrus recently released a new studio album titled ‘Endless Summer Vacation’ and the singer was working on this album right when ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ was being filmed, which would have prevented her from participating.
Why did James Gunn pick Miley Cyrus in the first place?
In 2017, Gunn gave an interview to Buzzfeed in which he explained why he opted for Miley Cyrus after being a judge on ‘The Voice’.
“I was admiring the tone of Miley Cyrus‘ voice,” he explained.
“I find her funny and likable and sweet. I liked that she cared about the contestants.
“So I was like, ‘I think she would be a funny person to have as a voice’. So we contacted her, and she said yes.
“She came in and recorded, and she was a delight to work with.”
