It is the one that every player who starts his NBA career dreams of, as owning a championship ring is beyond the reach of most.
Wearing it on your hand designates you as the winner of the best possible title in basketball.
As has been the case for the past few seasons, the design of the ring is completely customised to the team, with this year’s piece of jewelry very different and innovative compared to other years.
What does the Denver Nuggets’ ring look like?
From 1969 to 1983, the ring design followed very similar standards. It was customised between players, but varied much less from year to year between teams.
Today, however, each champion has its own ring design. It has been that way for many seasons now and it certainly hasn’t changed with the Nuggets.
On the front of the jewel are 16 diamonds symbolising the Nuggets‘ 16 post-season victories.
You can also see the Larry O’Brien trophy they won, while the word ‘Nuggets’ is also encrusted with diamonds and the silhouette of the Denver mountains with two peaks, as they appear in the franchise’s logo.
What makes the Nuggets ring unique is that there is another piece inside the jewel that features the banner that the Nuggets themselves saw rise to the sky of the Ball Arena and that will now forever fly high in that venue.
You can see on one side the words ‘World Champion’ and the win-loss record, while on the other is the number and name of each player.
In addition, there are 89 rubies symbolising the 89 points the Nuggets allowed to the Miami Heat in the last game of the Finals.
How much is the Denver Nuggets’ ring worth?
The jewellery is made by Beverly Hills-based Jason’s Jewellery, which has designed and made many other championship rings in the NBA, NFL, NHL and WNBA.
In addition, members of the Colorado team’s management were involved in the final design of the ring from the beginning to the end of the process.
The value of the ring, which has not been made public, is estimated to be between 50,000 and 150,000 dollars, which is the range in which all NBA rings move.
The Milwaukee Bucks‘ ring won in 2021 is believed to have cost just over 40,000 dollars, while the Toronto Raptors‘ 2019 ring is believed to be the most expensive in history at around 150,000 dollars.
