Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez have been engaged since 2023, but with a wedding seemingly not on horizon, questions are beginning to emerge over when the couple plan on tying the knot.
The couple are seemingly going strong after appearing at Donald Trump’s recent inauguration. However, quite a bit of time has passed since Jeff got down on one knee and proposed on the maiden voyage of his $500 million super yacht Koru.
There are some suggestions that the delay is simply down to the couple being meticulous in planning a wedding that they want to be the biggest ever seen.
Lauren didn’t hide her excitement when speaking with Vogue magazine a few months after their May 2023 engagement about whether she would take the Bezos name: “Uh, yes, one hundred per cent. I am looking forward to being Mrs Bezos.”
She even revealed she had already bought her wedding dress when speaking with morning show Today back in November: “I’m getting to it right now. I’m excited.”
There we even rumors that the couple were planning on holding their ceremony at Kevin Costner’s 160-acre Colorado ranch, though in the end that came to nothing.
Will the two ever tie the knot?
Although Lauren and her brother Jeff are no longer on speaking terms and mired in ongoing legal action, he recently spoke over the couple’s minded opportunity in not getting married before the inauguration.
“Gutted is an understatement,”says Michael while speaking with Daily Mail. “She and Jeff discussed a swift wedding in 2019 as they wanted to marry immediately and also for the PR value of not being just an affair.”
He also shed light on some of the details that he and Lauren had talked about regarding the wedding, which continues to drag on.
“We started planning the wedding years back,” Michael says. “It was going to top mine and Lauren’s favourite wedding of past years: the one in the film ‘Crazy Rich Asians’.
“Jeff and I talked about my idea of the first wedding in space, the monumental PR value of the historic event, and the fact that it would just be insanely cool. But he killed the idea because he said it was ‘too risky’.”
