American internet entrepreneur and investor Alexis Kerry Ohanian has built an impressive empire by the age of 41. Along with the earnings generated throughout his career, his wife, Serena Williams, contributes to a combined net worth fit for royalty.
Ohanian met his friend Steve Huffman at the University of Virginia while studying commerce and history. After finishing their studies, they presented their project, reddit.com, to Y Combinator in 2005. A year later, they sold it to Condé Nast for around $20 million. In July 2015, Alexis Ohanian returned to Reddit with his friend Huffman to lead the now-independent company, which he would leave in 2020.

Ohanian is a passionate advocate for net neutrality, opposing the Stop Online Piracy Act and the PROTECT IP Act, which were ultimately defeated in 2012. He led protests and launched a crowdfunding campaign against the FCC’s plans to eliminate net neutrality.
He also advocates for universal paid paternity leave, writing about his experience after the birth of his daughter and announcing plans to introduce legislation on this issue in 2019.
