It is not long until the Golden Globes ceremony is held to determine the winners of the prizes amongst Hollywood’s elite, with the awards ceremony perhaps only trumped by the Oscars in its prestige.
The awards show will be held on January 5 at the Beverley Hilton Hotel in Beverley Hills, Los Angeles, with Nikki Glaser hosting the awards.
Do the Golden Globes Offer Prize Money?
For the actors with fewer zeroes on their bank balances looking to make a quick buck from their success, they may be left disappointed even if they do up end winning an award.
That is because winning a Golden Globe doesn’t directly result in a monetary award, despite the ceremony’s esteemed reputation in Hollywood.
Some actors may have certain clauses written into their contracts to determine a bonus being paid out, but there is nothing to guarantee money for their success.
That said, some actors have found they are able to increase their fees in the aftermath with their new-found level of stardom and fame.

Oscar Isaac, who won a Golden Globe for his role in the movie ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’, earned 80,000 dollars for his work. However, he has gone on to make millions from his next two major roles, showing the endless opportunities that winning a Golden Globe can create.
And as well as leaving with a much-needed ego boost, the actors do get a trophy or accolade to take home, which can always be resold as history has shown.
How much is a Golden Globe worth?
The Golden Globe Awards statuettes themselves are manufactured at a small factory in Grove, Oklahoma, by Society Awards.
The prizes were redesigned in 2007 and are made of marble and zinc, plated in 24-karat gold, costing about 800 dollars to make.
There is no singular value that can be applied when the Golden Globe award is handed out – it is merely a case of the bigger the star, the steeper the price.
For example, Marlon Brando‘s 1955 Golden Globe for best performance by an actor in a motion picture for ‘On the Waterfront’ sold for 68,500 dollars at a 2013 auction.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the award sold for tens of thousands of dollars despite scratches on its marble base.
Two years later, Natalie Wood‘s Golden Globe for her role in ‘Rebel Without a Cause’ earned 17,500 dollars at auction – about a quarter of the amount Brando‘s raked in.
