Actress Shannen Doherty has emotionally reflected on the impact of her late co-star Luke Perry at MegaCon Orlando. Doherty, currently battling cancer since 2015 with recent spread to her brain and bones, tearfully remembered Perry, who passed away in 2019 at 52 due to a stroke.
The poignant moment occurred during a discussion with Jason Priestley, another co-star from the iconic series ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’. Doherty‘s health struggles intensified the emotional weight of recalling Perry‘s untimely death.
“I have a very visceral reaction whenever someone brings up Luke because as someone with cancer – and a really horrible cancer at stage 4 – I thought I would be the first to go,” Doherty said.
“So when it was Luke, it really just sent me for a tailspin.”

In a separate revelation on her podcast ‘Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty’, the actress addressed her dismissal from ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ more than two decades ago.
Doherty admitted her lack of professionalism led to her firing after the fourth season in 1994. She opened up about her personal struggles during that time, including her brief marriage to Ashley Hamilton in 1993, which ended due to Hamilton‘s battle with addiction.
“Towards my last season, I was in a really horrible marriage, and there were things that were transpiring in that marriage that made it really hard for me to consistently be on time for work,” Doherty explained.
“I know that that became a very big problem for the rest of you, as it should be because if everyone else is on time and you are waiting for one person it sucks.”
