Former heavyweight boxer Butterbean has voiced concerns about Mike Tyson‘s readiness to face Jake Paul in their upcoming fight scheduled for November 15 at AT&T Arena in Arlington, Texas. Real name Eric Esch, Butterbean has been openly critical of the highly anticipated bout, previously calling it a “scam” and doubting whether the fight would even happen, suggesting Tyson may not be in fighting shape.
Over the weekend, Butterbean, who had a career record of 77-10-4 with 58 knockouts, stirred the pot again by questioning Tyson’s ability to compete, stating that the former heavyweight champ may not be healthy enough to step into the ring next month.
“I saw Mike about three weeks ago, and he looked pregnant,” He told AL.com. “I would knock him out. He has no chin. The problem with those who have lost to Tyson is they didn’t challenge him.”
A rescheduled bout
Tyson and Paul were slated to fight on July 20, but the former had to pull out due to health concerns, prompting Paul to face UFC fighter Mike Perry as a late replacement.
Paul’s fight with Perry ended in a sixth-round stoppage, improving his boxing record to 10-1. After that victory, Paul shifted his focus back to Tyson, one of the most feared boxers of all time.
Tyson, who reigned from 1985 to 2005, built a legendary career with 50 wins, 44 of which were knockouts. He won multiple world heavyweight titles, famously defeating fighters like Trevor Berbick, Frank Bruno, and Michael Spinks.
However, Tyson hasn’t fought professionally since his 2005 loss to Kevin McBride. His only appearance since was an exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020, which ended in a draw after eight rounds.
