The Derby della Madonnina, also known as the Derby di Milano, takes it names in recognition of one of the city’s most famous landmarks.
The statue of the Virgin Mary, on top of the Duomo di Milano (Milan Cathedral) is an iconic sight in the city of Milan, as is referred to by locals as Madonnina, regardless of their club affiliation.
