Round 15 of the 2024-25 A-League Men’s season continues with an interstate clash between two teams with their eyes firmly set on going all the way in this year’s competition. Adelaide are having their best season for quite some time so far in this campaign, and are currently joint-top of the ladder with Melbourne City after seven wins and just one defeat this term. That’s meant a five-game run containing three draws and two defeats, the most recent of which was an agonising 4-3 loss to local rivals Western United last time out, surrendering a 3-2 lead in second-half injury time.

An early own-goal from Wellington looked to have set Adelaide on their way to victory last time out, but for the second game running, they needed Luka Jovanovic to pop up and win it late on. He’s expected to return to the starting XI after his heroics across the Tasman, ahead of top scorer Archie Goodwin.

Western United had other ideas with last-gasp goals to turn it around in the 91st and 94th minutes, but having gone within a whisker of their first win in five, Victory will be dead-set on seeing the game out should they get into a similar position in this one.
