New video footage has surfaced of boxer Jarrell Miller laughing and joking with police officers while he was being placed under arrest.
Miller was questioned by police officers in Hollywood, Florida on January 2 after he had been accused of body-slamming a car dealership employee. It is also alleged Miller stole a truck from the premises.
According to police documents, officers were able to find Miller as the owner had put a tracker inside the vehicle. Officers placed the former heavyweight star under arrest and were putting handcuffs on him when the 35-year-old began talking.
In video footage provided by police and published by TMZ Sports, the boxing veteran can seen smiling, laughing and cracking jokes with officers despite the serious allegations levelled against him.
Miller, who was wearing a ‘#F***AJOB’ t-shirt, can be heard asking an officer if he could inform his ‘brother’ about what was happening to him, who was apparently stationed nearby.
“He look like you?” the officer asked, to which Miller replied, while smiling: “Nah. He’s white as a motherf***er. He’s my God brother!”
And the jokes didn’t stop there. While they were in the process of arranging his transport, Miller asked a policeman if there was any way he could “handcuff me to the front” of the car.
Will Jarrell Miller go to prison?
Miller was later taken to a nearby police station, where he was charged with carjacking without a firearm or weapon and burglary with assault or battery.
He appeared in court two days later and pleaded not guilty to the charges against him, before being reportedly released on bail after his $30,000 bond was posted.
After being released from custody, he issued a statement saying: “I am prayerful and look forward to a favorable resolution of this case.”
His last professional fight came back in December when he finally conceded his unbeaten record to the British boxer, 26, who stopped him in the 10th round of their nail-biting bout.
Miller has vowed to secure a fight with Anthony Joshua in 2024, although the former heavyweight champion has ruled out facing Miller at any point in the future.
