What are the stages of Worlds 2023 championship?
The tournament unfolds in three phases. The Play-in phase starts the competition, where eight teams compete to advance to the next stage, but only two will succeed.
Meanwhile, the second stage introduces a Swiss competition system, a first for Worlds, with 16 teams battling it out. These 16 teams consist of 14 qualifiers and 2 play-in winners, and only eight will move on to the Knockout stage, which begins with the quarterfinals.
The stages of the Worlds 2023 championship are as follows:
- Play-in Phase: Held from October 10 to 15 at the LoL Park in Seoul. Matches begin at 03:00 ET / 00:00 PT.
- Swiss Phase: Taking place from October 19-23 and 26-29 at the KBS Arena in Seoul, matches start at 03:00 ET / 00:00 PT.
- Quarterfinals: Scheduled for November 2-5.
- Semifinals: Set for November 11-12, with all games played at the Sajik Indoor Gymnasium in Busan. Matches begin at 03:00 ET / 00:00 PT.
