The last step before the fight. Before his UFC debut. Aleksandre Topuria (5-1) and Colby Thicknesse (7-0, also a debutant) faced each other at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney in the ceremonial weigh-in prior to Sunday’s fight night (the fight will be at 02:00 in the morning) at UFC 312.
They did it with respect and calm, already composed and rehydrated after having made the weight three hours earlier in the official weigh-in. 135.5 pounds for both.
They also appeared escorted by Alexander Volkanovski and Ilia Topuria. The former featherweight king and the current champion, the man who dethroned him, will be in the corners of both fighters… and they met again.
They greeted each other, showing the enormous respect they have for each other.It remains to be seen whether the UFC plans a matchup between the two for a new featherweight defense this spring. Nothing is confirmed yet, and Topuria himself confessed this week that he does not know what plans the UFC has
