The Houston Texans should be in the market for a receiver in the offseason, and there would be no shortage of options. They could target free agent wide receiver Amari Cooper to provide some depth to the position, according to the 33rd Team’s Marcus Mosher.
“The Houston Texans were aggressive in improving their wide receiver room in 2024, adding Stefon Diggs to Nico Collins and Tank Dell,” Mosher writes. “But with Diggs and Dell suffering season-ending knee injuries, the group was decimated by the time the playoffs came around.”

Diggs is a free agent, and Dell will likely miss the entire 2025 season. Amari Cooper could be a suitable option for Houston, especially considering he’s averaged nearly 83 yards per game in his career when playing indoors.
Cooper is a veteran, who’s played for four teams since he was drafted in the first round by the Oakland Raiders in 2015. Last year, the 30-year-old regressed in his time on the Cleveland Browns and the Buffalo Bills. Cooper had just over 500 yards and four touchdowns between the two teams. But, he’s had a history of success. Cooper has six 1,000-yard seasons under his belt, most recently in 2023 with the Browns, and 64 touchdowns. Cooper provides another option for C.J. Stroud in Year 3.
He’d join Nico Collins, who’s had immense success, and be a safety blanket if Tank Dell isn’t fully healthy in 2025 after his second season-ending injury. The Texans have splurged for a No. 3 receiver before. They traded for Stefon Diggs last offseason to provide a third receiver for Stroud, but Diggs is going to be free agent, so Cooper could be a cheaper replacement.
