The Kansas City Chiefs continue to dominate.
Kansas City faced off against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday and was able to come out on top once again. The Chiefs are going back to the Super Bowl and have a chance to make history.
The Chiefs have won two straight Super Bowls and have a chance to be the first team in National Football League history to win three straight titles. NFL.com’s Grant Gordon discussed this fact prior to the 2024 campaign.
“Not only has no NFL team ever won three straight Super Bowls, but none of the eight teams that have won back-to-back Lombardis ever returned to the big game the following year,” Gordon said. “Three of those squads lost in the ensuing conference title game, two lost in the Divisional Round, and three missed the postseason altogether.”
The Chiefs already have made some history as they clinched their ticket to the Super Bowl. Now, they have a chance to do something not done by another team. With the Chiefs’ continued success, one question that has popped up is how Patrick Mahomes will compare to Tom Brady by the time his career is done.
Mahomes lost to Brady in the Super Bowl, but a win against the Eagles would make the conversation more realistic because he would be able to do something no one else has done.
The Chiefs have had yet another magical season and history is within reach.
