From some sensationalist media, everything was said after the sudden departure of Angela Cullen, who decided to leave her position as physiotherapist, assistant and right-hand woman to Lewis Hamilton in the races. It was after the 2023 Bahrain GP and despite the official explanations, other unofficial and malicious ones were leaked. It was said that it was because Cullen could no longer stand the authoritarian ways of the driver, the excessive pressure to which she was subjected and there was even talk of slightly more serious things such as insults in a moment of heat. Now it is quite clear that this was not the case.
And on Tuesday, it was confirmed that Hamilton has re-signed Cullen, according to ‘mootosport.com’. Angela joins the seven-time champion’s company, ‘Project 44’ as a physiotherapist and will be part of the performance team overseen by race director Marc Hynes, but focused on his new project with Ferrari in F1.
Speaking about their split in 2023, Hamilton said: “Angela is living her life right now. She has a lot of ideas of things she wants to do. We message each other almost every day and we’re still going skydiving together. We’ll always be in each other’s lives,” he said.
“We are united to each other, unfortunately or fortunately! We have been through thick and thin. I’m grateful that our relationship is as good as it is. We have probably had one of the longest relationships, I would say, in the sport. I’m incredibly grateful, I love her very much,” he added at the time.
The news of the return comes just as Hamilton takes to the track, with an F1-75, at the Fiorano circuit. It will be his first day with a Ferrari, before the official presentations of the car and the F1 in London.
