Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino passed his first official test as coach of the United States after eliminating Jamaica and booking a place in the Final Four of the Concacaf Nations League.
“My advice is to take care of yourself, we need to be stronger in March. We need to be desperate to get to March and be all together. That’s a sign that we improved a lot and then we started to feel that we are a real group of people, that we are going to fight for something special,” said Pochettino after the match, in a message of the demands he will have with his players to aspire to great things with USMNT.
One of the players who has already realised the message his new coach is sending is Tyler Adams, who from the moment he arrived had an idea that his CV endorsed him, but in practice has seen that “he means business”.
“He’s had so much success with so many different types of players and so many different types of teams,” Adams said in a chat on the Men in Blazers podcast.

The Bournemouth midfielder added that Pochettino’s time at Tottenham is a good endorsement with unexpected success, and in particular, he has already realised that if he is not 100 per cent physically fit he will not be called up.
“I consider him a very important player for the future of this team. The most important thing now is to see his progress. For us, we were very happy to see his evolution, but at the same time, we know very well that we must take care of him if we want to have him in the best conditions for the 2026 World Cup,” said Pochettino about Tyler Adams, whom he recommends to train properly and be consistent at his club in the Premier League.
