Another season has ended in heartbreak for Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, as their Super Bowl dreams were dashed by the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship.
As emotions ran high, the future of two key wide receivers – Amari Cooper and Mack Hollins – became a focal point during the team’s post-season press conference.
Cooper and Hollins, both pivotal in the Bills‘ offense, are set to enter free agency, leaving fans and teammates anxious about their possible departures. When asked about the duo, Allen expressed deep admiration for their contributions.
“They’ve meant so much,” Allen said with sincerity. “Mack’s energy throughout the entire locker room is infectious. The way that he carries himself, he’s a competitor.”

The quarterback was equally effusive about Cooper, adding, “I’ve got nothing but love and respect for Cooper… I’m just honored to share the field with him, as well as Mack.”
While Allen didn’t delve into contract specifics, he subtly acknowledged the uncertainty ahead, saying, “Who knows what happens in the future! Again, I got nothing but love and respect for both of those guys.”
Amari Cooper joined the Bills mid-season in a headline-grabbing trade from the Cleveland Browns.
After struggling to find chemistry with Deshaun Watson, Cooper brought veteran expertise to Buffalo’s offense, amassing 547 yards and four touchdowns on 44 receptions. His ability to step up when needed added depth to the team’s passing game.
Meanwhile, Hollins‘ value extended beyond the field. Known for his positivity and leadership, Hollins inspired the team with his tenacity and infectious energy. These qualities left a lasting impact on his teammates and the organization.
Although the loss to the Chiefs ended their season, Allen showed appreciation for the unwavering support of Bills Mafia.
“Bills Mafia is the best fan base in the world, even through all the hurt and disappointment they’ve had to endure for the entirety of the Buffalo Bills‘ existence,” he said.
With both Cooper and Hollins facing uncertain futures, Allen promised that the team’s commitment to chasing a Lombardi Trophy remains steadfast.
“We’re going to continue turning every stone, crossing the t’s, dotting the i’s, and doing whatever we can to try and bring a Lombardi back to Western New York,” Allen concluded.
The rivalry that stings
Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs was made even harder to swallow given the rivalry’s history. Earlier in the season, Bills fans taunted Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes with a puppet resembling Kermit the Frog.
After Kansas City’s victory, Brittany Mahomes, Patrick’s wife, took to Instagram to address the incident, writing, “Do we remember this Buffalo? Absolutely disgusting…So as you go home tonight, I pray we become better people.”
Despite the heartbreak, Allen‘s message to the fans and his team was one of resilience. “The pride that I have in this team, in this locker room, and these players, it’s a special group,” he said. “I’m just sad that we couldn’t get it done.”
As the Bills face critical decisions about their roster, the futures of Cooper and Hollins will be pivotal in shaping their path forward. For now, the team and its fans must hold onto hope as they prepare for what lies ahead.
