The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly find Bateman’s remarks offensive. A source close to the couple told Page Six, “It’s offensive to Meghan and Harry that anybody would think this is merely a photo opportunity.” The insider emphasized that their involvement goes far beyond public appearances and highlighted their personal connection to the area. “Meghan was born and raised in Los Angeles, so this is, and always will be, home to her,” the source explained.
The insider also shared that Markle, 43, and Prince Harry, 40, have been actively contributing to relief efforts. They have donated money and essential items, as well as dedicated significant time to volunteering.

The criticism comes as Los Angeles battles one of its largest wildfire outbreaks in recent history. Among the fires are the Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire, which have displaced over 150,000 people and burned more than 40,000 acres of land. While some view Harry and Meghan’s efforts as genuine support during a crisis, others, like Bateman, remain skeptical of their intentions.
