Throughout his UFC career, Israel Adesanya has made it clear he is an über geek. The man loves anime, films, and all pop culture. His entrances are already the stuff of legend as he sometimes puts on a show. We’ve seen him doing poses from the Naruto anime or even making his big entrance with the WWE‘s Undertaker famous hat. Ahead of probably the most crucial fight of his career, he decided to bust out a deep cut from one of the best martial arts movie stars in history. Jet-Li is famous for many incredible films, his fighting skills are legendary inside the industry. But the ‘Unleashed film from 2005 is arguably not amongst his most famous.
The film follows a modern-day slave who uses a dog collar and only takes it off in order to fight in martial arts tournaments. In classic Jet-Li style, the fight sequences of this movie are truly breathtaking and we completely see how this motivated Adesanya to cosplay. Even though he didn’t exactly use the same outfit, the collar was definitely identical and he even said the magig word when asked about. Adesanya referred to himself as a dog and then told everyone what is going to happen next Saturday. But Pereira didn’t even seem phased about it.
Alex Pereira has the potential to erase Adesanya from title fight
Although a potential trilogy is possible, Alex Pereira’s dominance on Adesanya in two different combat sports. Pereira already defeated him in kick boxing and the UFC, a third defeat would instantly make him his cryptonite. Izzy knows this is a do or die situation and he is willing to go to war until the last breath. This isn’t his first major challenge and it definitely won’t be the last.
