It was expected but still it will take a toll on Nikola Jokic’s image, even if he didn’t have anything to do with it. His older brother, Strahinja Jokic, had to appear in court to face a misdemeanor assault charge, after a very unfortunate situation that happened during the last NBA season.
The charge arises as a result of an incident that took place during a Denver Nuggets home game against the Los Angeles Lakers in April. Strahinja Jokic appears to punch a fan in the face after exchanging some words with him.
A video of the incident surfaced on social media right after the game, but the fan did not initially want to press charges, however the victim suffered a concussion and cuts and bruises. Strahinja Jokic was charged with third-degree assault in July and he pleaded his case by telling police that he acted that way to defend an older man he knew.
The judge has made his decision
After the incident, a judge made the ruling in Denver County Court on Wednesday; the brother of the NBA star has been ordered to stay away from the man he allegedly punched after the investigation from the police concluded.
Strahinja returned to court in October and after all this situation the previous was determined. Now, for the upcoming season with might not see Nikola Jokic’s brother that much in the Denver Nuggets arena and if the team reaches the playoffs there is a strong chance that he could be absent.
Unless of course he can behave and his conduct is correct, there is a good chance that there is a Strahinja Jokic sighting behind the team’s bench as he often supports his brother in person.
