With his 2023 French Open with at Roland-Garros, Novak Djokovic has confirmed his place as the male tennis player with the most Grand Slam trophies.
The Serbian, with 23 titles to his name now, is the best of the ‘Big Three’ in the sport in this respect, having broken the Grand Slam deadlock of 22 that he was in with Rafael Nadal.
Djokovic’s 67 Big Titles
Overall, Djokovic is eight victories ahead of Nadal and 13 ahead of Roger Federer in terms of Big Titles, as he has 67 of these if you count victories at Grand Slams, Masters 1000, ATP Finals and Olympic Games individual events.
In terms of Grand Slams, he now has one more than Nadal and three more than Federer.
Djokovic will have the option of continuing to increase the gap with Nadal and Federer from July 2 to July 16 on the grass of Wimbledon, a tournament he has won seven times, including the last four.
Djokovic avoids the GOAT debate
Despite having exerted so much dominance over the men’s game in tennis, Djokovic does not seem to be very interested in debates around whether he is the best there has ever been.
“I don’t want to enter in these discussions, I’m writing my own history,” he said after beating Norway’s Casper Rudd on Sunday.
“I don’t want to say I am the greatest. I leave those discussions to someone else.”
Djokovic is now level with Serena Williams for Grand Slam titles at 23, and he would equal Margaret Court‘s all-time record of 24 if he wins Wimbledon next month.
