January 20, 2025 is an important day for the United States, as it marks Martin Luther King Day, in honor of the great civil rights activist, but this time, as every four years, this date coincides with the change of administration.
Donald Trump will make official his return to the White House for a second term, in what is likely to be an administration corrected and increased from what was seen between 2017 and 2021.

Despite this outlook, the United States can take a break from the day-to-day, as January 20 is a federal holiday, which means certain closures in some services, which we share with you below:
Schools
Most public schools will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and on Monday classrooms will not be open to students, who will be able to take an additional day off due to the change in federal administration
Banks
Take your precautions, as the main banking institutions, such as Bank of America, Capital One, Citibank, PNC, Wells Fargo and Truist, will close their branches throughout the day
The only services that will be available will be online banking and ATMs throughout the country
Post offices
If you have a letter or package that you have in mind to send, take your precautions because the United States Postal Service (USPS) will not operate, including regular mail delivery
Shops and supermarkets
While people will take a day off in memory of Martin Luther King, this will not stop retailing, as most supermarkets, restaurants and retail stores will remain open, allowing people to shop or enjoy a regular outing.
