The 2024 NBA All-Star Game made history.
The NBA reverted to the original East vs. West format with four 12-minute quarters, looking to bring some purity back to the world’s greatest pickup game.
The format didn’t change much, as the East’s 211-186 win represents the highest-scoring All-Star Game in NBA history. No team had ever crossed the 200-point threshold and the 397 points combined were 23 more than the previous record set back in 2017. The East’s 42 made 3-pointers also set an All-Star Game record.
Damian Lillard led the charge for the East, scoring 39 points on 11 3-pointers to take home the Kobe Bryant All-Star Game MVP trophy. Pacers hometown hero Tyrese Haliburton made a strong run at the MVP trophy, pouring in 32 points.
Karl-Anthony Towns racked up a big scoring total late in the game, finishing with 50 points to lead the West.

Damian Lillard’s 39 points, Jaylen Brown’s 36 points and Tyrese Haliburton’s 32 points lead the East to victory. Karl-Anthony Towns quietly piled on 50 points for the West while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 31 points.
Lillard left us with the parting gift of another half-court shot.

10:12 p.m.: The East’s 3-point shooting has made this a lopsided event quickly. The East has made 33 3-pointers, just two shy of the all-time All-Star Game record set by Team LeBron in 2019.
Damian Lillard has 33 points on nine 3-pointers. Tyrese Haliburton has 24 points on eight 3-pointers. It feels like a battle between those two for All-Star Game MVP heading into the final quarter.

9:33 p.m.: The East built a comfortable first-half lead but the West is still in striking distance.
The East has six players in double-figures scoring. Damian Lillard’s 22 points lead the way followed by Tyrese Haliburton (18), Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, who all have 12 points. Stephen Curry is starting to heat up for the West with 12 points on four 3-pointers.
Defense is … nowhere to be found, as you would expect. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing!

9:06 p.m.: One quarter down and the defense is starting to drop off. Both teams are shooting over 50 percent from the field as the East takes a 53-47 lead over the West. The East is hot from 3-point range, knocking down 13 triples compared to the West’s five.

Kevin Durant and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander have seven points apiece as the East leads the West 43-41 with 2:22 to play in the first.
