One of the all-time great NBA players has called it a day, with Andre Iguodala announcing that he is retiring at the age of 39.
The four-time NBA champion makes the announcement after spending 19 seasons in the league.
He started out in 2004, after he was drafted ninth overall by the Philadelphia 76ers, where he stayed until 2012.
A short one-year stint at the Denver Nuggets was followed by Iguodala‘s 2013 to 2019 run with the Golden State Warriors, where he won the title in 2015, 2017 and 2018, even being named Finals MVP in 2015.
After playing for the Miami Heat from 2020 to 2021, he then returned to the Warriors and helped them win their most recent championship, in 2022.

The veteran player was close to retiring last summer, but apparently a phone call from Stephen Curry encouraged him to change his mind.
This time, he has decided to bring his illustrious career to an end, as he’ll now embark on a business career, having already set up several exciting projects.
He made the announcement via The New York Times’ DealBook column, explaining that he’ll now run Mosaic, a venture capital fund he started with business partner Rudy Cline-Thomas.
“It’s been a blessing to play for that long,” he said.
“I don’t know if it’s actually hit me yet.”
Andre Iguodala could become an owner
During his discussion with The New York Times, Iguodala admitted that owning a team might be of interest to him, but not right at this moment.
The timing has to be right, but that’s definitely the ultimate goal,” he openly admitted.
If he is half as successful at running a team as he was when on the court, then the future could be very promising for this basketball legend.
