For the first time, the WWE visits Germany with the presentation of the heavyweight champion, Gunther, who returns close to home in a lineup that also includes the undisputed champion Cody Rhodes.
Gunther got his start as a wrestler in an independent league in Germany before joining WWE, and now he will be in Berlin, a seven-hour drive from his native Vienna, the capital of Austria, to defend his world heavyweight title.
The Austrian will face fellow King of the Ring finalist Randy Orton, who is going for his 15th world title.
In addition, the battle for the WWE Undisputed Champion between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens draws attention, in order to give him a title shot as a show of appreciation for Owens‘ support against The Bloodline.
Owens refused, arguing that his recent win-loss record did not warrant the opportunity, but Rhodes then took the request to SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis, who booked the bout for Berlin, CBS Sports reported.
Also on this weekend’s WWE card, CM Punk will take on Drew McIntyre in a strap match, while in a mixed tag team bout, Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley will fight Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan.
