Beetlejuice 2 is set to bring Tim Burton‘s classic dark comedy back to the big screen, more than three decades after the original film’s release in 1988. The sequel not only revisits familiar characters from the first film but also introduces new faces to add a fresh twist to the story.
The sequel has been a long time coming, with previous attempts to develop a follow-up, including a rumored project titled “Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian” in the early 1990s. Now, after many years of anticipation, Beetlejuice 2 is finally coming to fruition, picking up with the Deetz family as they face new supernatural challenges.
The plot
Following the death of Charles Deetz, his daughter Lydia once again finds herself compelled to summon the mischievous Betelgeuse, leading to a new series of eerie events.
While some fan-favorite characters from the original film, such as Adam and Barbara Maitland, won’t be returning for the sequel, Beetlejuice 2 introduces an exciting mix of both returning stars and fresh talent.

Michael Keaton reprises his iconic role as the chaotic and mischievous Betelgeuse, bringing back the character’s signature blend of humor and mayhem. Meanwhile, Winona Ryder returns as Lydia Deetz, now grappling with the loss of her father and the return of supernatural chaos in her life.
Catherine O’Hara is back as Delia Deetz, continuing her role as Lydia’s quirky and eccentric stepmother, while Jenna Ortega plays Astrid Deetz, adding a new dynamic to the Deetz family as they navigate the latest haunting.
Justin Theroux joins the cast as Rory and Willem Dafoe as Wolf Jackson. Monica Bellucci appears as Delores, a character with a potentially sinister backstory, as hinted by her eerie appearance
Burn Gorman portrays a reverend presiding over Charles Deetz’s funeral and Arthur Conti‘s character Jeremy interacts with Astrid Deetz.
Danny DeVito brings his comedic flair to the role of an afterlife janitor, adding humor to the setting.
