The NFL may not have seen the Giants or Cowboys in action this past Sunday, but a fierce exchange between Giants edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux and former Cowboys star Dez Bryant took center stage on social media.
The heated back-and-forth was ignited during the Eagles’ dominant 55-23 victory over the Commanders in the NFC Championship game, with Saquon Barkley playing a pivotal role.
Dez Bryant’s Jab Sparks a Social Media Firestorm
It all began when Dez Bryant took to X to comment on Barkley‘s electrifying 60-yard touchdown on the Eagles‘ opening offensive play. “The Giants have got to be sick; I don’t care what anyone says,” Bryant posted, adding a laughing emoji to underscore his jab.

Barkley‘s departure from the Giants to the Eagles last offseason has clearly become a sore spot for the New York faithful. Drafted second overall by the Giants in 2018, Barkley spent six years as a cornerstone of their offense before making the leap to Philadelphia, where he’s thrived.
Thibodeaux, the Giants‘ 2022 first-round pick, wasted no time firing back at Bryant, writing, “We got the same amount of SB [Super Bowls],” pointing out that neither has claimed a championship.
Back-and-Forth Escalates with Personal Jabs
The exchange quickly escalated as Bryant, referencing Giants GM Joe Schoen, called out the organization for their decision-making. “You guys let go of the best player in the NFL this year,” Bryant said, taking aim at the franchise for parting ways with Barkley.
He added a pointed critique of Schoen‘s draft decisions, referencing a moment from HBO’s Hard Knocks when Schoen‘s son suggested trading up to draft quarterback Jayden Daniels, who ultimately led the Commanders to the NFC Championship.
Thibodeaux fired back with a series of tweets, roasting Bryant for his retirement and even revisiting Bryant‘s infamous drop in the 2015 NFC Championship game against Green Bay. “Man what happened in Green Bay @DezBryant?” Thibodeaux wrote, adding laughing emojis.
Bryant attempted to defuse the situation, explaining, “I’ve stopped playing football… I don’t care about playing football.” However, he continued to critique the Giants‘ management, calling their decisions “trash.”
Thibodeaux Stands His Ground
Despite Bryant‘s attempts to shift the conversation, Thibodeaux held firm. “Everybody think they can say something about a team I represent….not on my watch,” he wrote. Though Thibodeaux later deleted some of his posts, he remained adamant about defending the Giants, stating, “Till I’m no longer a Giant, ima stand in bidness.”
The exchange showcased the intense pride both figures have in their respective teams, but it also highlighted the lingering frustrations surrounding Barkley‘s departure and the Giants‘ struggles.
