Hugh Jackman’s decision to invite Ryan Reynolds to the stage in New York City proved he backs the Deadpool actor and Blake Lively in their legal battles against Justin Baldoni, as the couple find themselves subpoenaed.
Lively and the Wrexham AFC owner were forced to hand over all emails, texts and messages concerning the director and the film, It Ends with Us, after the 37-year-old actress accused Baldoni of sexual harassment during filming.
The pair were then counter-sued for $400,000,000 as Baldoni argues the Reynolds calculatingly committed civil defamation, extortion and an invasion of his privacy, in documents filed to the Southern District of New York.
Many people have chosen their sides in the drama, but one person who did not publicly open up on the matter was Jackman despite him working closely with Reynolds during Wolverine & Deadpool.
However, this was not due to a lack of support. A source reveals the Australian’s own personal problems is why he didn’t openly cast his ballot, although he gave a subtle gesture on Friday, January 24.
“Hugh is one of the only people who Ryan opens up to,’ a source told DailyMail.com. “He does support Ryan, but he has his divorce to deal with right now.
“And the last thing he wants to do is be dragged into this. Inviting him on stage was Hugh’s way of showing his support without speaking out publicly.
“He owes Ryan. Deadpool was his saving grace during the break down of his marriage to Deborra-Lee.”
